Sea of Love
I don't know what got into me but this song was playing in my head the whole of today and I was singing it early this morning while preparing to go to work. Sea of Love is by the HoneyDrippers fronted by Led Zepelin singer Robert Plant and his friends. I don't have the CD but will look out for the MP3 definitely.
Sea of Love
Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, to the sea of love
Do you remember when we met
That's the day I knew you were my pet
I want to tell you how much I love you
Come with me, to the sea of love
Come with me, my love
To the sea, the sea of love
I want to tell you how much I love you

Of hair loss and weight gain ...
I came across a topic on Moms4moms about Hair loss after birth (usually occur after 3 or 4mths). It's scary as some of them say they lost tremendous amount of hair and had bald patches. Seems like this is a perfectly normal phase that all women has to go through due to hormonal changes. During pregnancy less hair falls out on a daily basis. But as soon as you deliver and your hormones have settled down you shift into a shedding phase. There's little that anyone can do about it .. I guess I have to endure and pray that not all of my hair will be gone and that everything will return to normal within a couple of months or sooner.
One thing I hope will come naturally like hair loss is weight loss !! I have gained so much weight since that I'm now afraid I'll have a hard time fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes after child birth. Will have to work hard on this I'm sure. Anyone with tips on how to lose weight let me know ok.

Seeing the Foot specialist
My feet has been getting more swollen by the day... i can hardly fit into my sandals. My hubby suggested seeing our regular reflexologist at Fu Lu Shou Complex after work .. what a brilliant idea that was. Andrew the refloxologist worked magic on my feet. My feet is definitely less swollen and feels lighter now. My one hope is that this will last forever .. but Andrew said my feet will be swollen like that till end of pregnancy !
Point to note : Foot Reflexology is not encouraged during the 1st trimester.

It's a Girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlllll !!
Yes ! Finally today's ultrasound scan confirmed that we are expecting a baby girl . That will put a full-stop to all the speculations from well-meaning friends & family members. Both of us are very delighted, we've been secretly hoping for a girl eventhough most of the time we tell others that we have no preference. hehehe :) We now can go full-swing on to the next item on the shopping list; the cot bumper and crib set!
According to Babycenter.com, my baby at 25 weeks is responsive to touch. So I'll have lotsa fun when rolling from side to side to see how she reacts and can tickle her feet when she kicks. Her optic nerve is also working, so if I shine a light to my tummy, she will turn her head. Cute huh !
Her sense of hearing developed at 21 weeks and we have long exposed her to classical music. Her fave seems to be Vivaldi's Four Seasons, Beethoven's Ode to Joy and Mozart's A little night music.

The art of doing nothing ...
I'm on MC for today .. yeahh ! The doc diagnosed that I'm having tension headache. It's kind like a sharp shooting pain on the right side of my head .. very annoying and makes me shout ouch each time I get it. Thankfully it's not migraine.
Called my mum early in the morning to tell her I'm coming over for lunch and can she pls cook Ikan masak taucho for me ? That's a dish I haven't had for a loooong time. I always have a big appetite when I'm eating at my mum's place.
Lunch was great and I had ice-cream and the finest swiss chocolates for dessert .. yummmy ! I'm spoilt rotten today and the pain seems to have gone away.
To top it all off .. I'll have durians for dessert tonight !
Not looking forward to tomorrow's department meeting though . My boss has asked us to list the things that we find most annoying and would like him to improve to make the dept an effective place to work. How do you tell your boss that he's on top of the list ??

Baby talks , money talks .. bla bla blah
Incentives for couples to have babies seems to be the hottest topic for the past few weeks. With our declining birth rate our govt thot that by giving 6 mths maternity leave will do the trick to get couples into bed and produce babies! The extended maternity leave is kinda attractive but the plan can backfire. Bosses will feel short-changed and some may even discriminate against employing females as they won't be as productive at work. I've already seen such a trend in my dept ever since 2 of my female colleagues went on long maternity cum MCs during the SARS period; I'm probably the last female to be employed in my department.
Definitely more needs to be done both pre and post-natal. Below are my wish list :
1. Make mandatory > 5 days child sick leaves to allow parents to bring their children for regular vaccinations or to tend to them when they are ill.
2. Pregnancy check-up leaves so that mums to be can go for their gynaecological check ups without having to use up most of their annual leaves or having to resort to asking doctors for MCs.
3. Flexible working hours or tele-working from home. I pray that my IS dept will allow this. I'm sure if they open up the VLAN I can still work and support my users from home, after all they are just a phone call away and we communicate via email most of the time anyway.
Offcourse I'll welcome whatever monetary incentives or subsidies that come our way too :)
Here's hoping that our govt can change the mindset of not just couples but also employers and certain policy makers themselves to make Singapore a more family-oriented place to live in.
Don't just hope .. Make your comments known to Public e-consultation on additional maternity leave
